Overview

This two day event for researchers will focus on the developing the capacity of staff to undertake effective research with children and young people.  Open to active research staff, the training will consist of two parts.  The first day will offer an overview of issues relating to working with children, from child protection and consent to children’s rights and participation.

Day 1 will be of particular interest to researchers with little experience of undertaking work with children.

Day 2 will cover more advanced topes and will be run as two parallel sessions, which will be repeated in the afternoon, allowing delegates to attend both.  These sessions will offer advanced insight into visual methods and network analysis

The workshop will cover the wide range of research with children that is currently being undertaken within Cardiff university.  Drawing on a wide range of available talent, sessions will be facilitated by Cardiff academic staff from DECIPHer, Wiserd and SOCSI, as well as outside agencies, including young people from Save the Children’s “Turn on the rights” project. A full workshop programme can be found here.
