This workshop has now been cancelled, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Dates: 8 February 2011

Times: 9.30am to 12.30pm

Course Leader: Mr Rhys Davies, WISERD Quantitative Research Team

Location: WISERD Training Room, 46 Park Place, Cardiff University

Overview

A variety of data covering a range of socio-economic phenomena is available for researchers on the web. Different websites provide different levels of functionality. Some services simply allow users to download pre-defined tables, whilst others allow users to specify their own parameters. However, data from such services is generally downloaded in the form of Excel files.

This training course provides a practical introduction to managing and manipulating data in Excel. The course will cover the commonly used mathematical and statistical functions, data management and the production of graphs and charts
