Policy Analysis and Evaluation

The policy research programme is a key element of WISERD’s wider research activities and provides leadership in maximising the quality and value of social science research for policy formulation, evaluation and understanding in Wales and elsewhere.  In collaboration with other WISERD research strands the programme is aimed at delivering a range of objectives including the development of stronger relations and facilitating knowledge transfer between the research and policy communities within Wales and the UK; enhancing research conduct and consumption skills among policy and practice groups; and to increase academic’s understanding of strategies to maximise investment in and uptake of research by the policy community. Through the collaboration across the academic/policy and practice interface engendered by the WISERD policy research programme and the capacity development activities targeted at non academic communities, WISERD will facilitate greater understanding of the role of evidence in policy decision making and of ways in which the impact and translation of evidence into policy and practice can be maximised.
