Description
This Council-led research project explores the multiple needs and risk factors presented by the rough sleeper population on Anglesey, and the extent to which these needs are matched by the current services provided by voluntary, private, and public sector organisations. The project specifically investigates whether there is sufficient local need to justify extending the temporary night shelter provided by Digartref Ynys Môn to a permanent night shelter; and whether a night shelter is the most appropriate and cost effective service for the needs of the local rough sleeper population.
The project also explores the extent of the problem of rooflessness on Anglesey and is aiming to develop a local typology of rough sleepers – identified factors in rooflessness, demographic profile – and identify ‘hard to reach’ and hidden rough sleeper populations if in evidence. This is a mixed methods study, incorporating qualitative and quantitative (primary and secondary data analysis) methods.
